Leena Svinhufvud
Leena Svinhufvud is Educational Curator and Head of Learning at Design Museum Helsinki since 1998. She is in charge of public programmes and a member of the museum’s management team. She is pioneer in developing design education for children and young people in Finland and has conducted several projects on both national and international level. Leena is art historian by training and completed her PhD in 2009 at the University of Helsinki where she also holds title of
docent in art history (2014). The topic of her dissertation was Finnish textile design in the 1920s and 30s as part of modernizing design. Starting from her masters thesis she has worked a lot with the history of the Friends of Finnish Handicraft and curated the 120th anniversary exhibition Sidos in 1999. Leena is an active teacher and researcher of Finnish design history and textile history and has curated several exhibitions and published widely on the topic.
