Henri Tervapuro (born 1986) is a designer of games and graphics who has also published comic-strip albums. In the archive material of the Friends of Finnish Handicraft he was particularly interested in samples of textiles by Impi Sotavalta. The world of their patterns reminded him of the visual aspects of old games. To his surprise, the textile models, experimental samples, sketches and photographs led him to childhood memories and the ryijy-rugs and textiles of his grandmother, who lived in the outskirts of Sodankylä in Lapland. The textiles reminded him of how he would play with the patterns on his grandmother’s ryijys and other rugs when he was small.
